In 1977 three Ford V8 enthusiasts were having a quite drink in Mittagong N.S.W., when they decided to form the Early Ford V8 Club of N.S.W.
The objects of the Club are:-
To promote the authentic restoration and also the use and exhibition of Ford V8's of the years 1932 - 1954 inclusive
To assist members in locating, restoring and maintaining their Ford V8
To co-operate with other Motoring Clubs and Associations with similar aims.
The Ford V8 definition includes all authentic 1932 - 1954 Ford Motor cars and Commercial Vehicles bearing the name Ford, Mercury & Lincoln as being powered by the factory production flathead engine.
The club has been successful in the last 30 years and has slowly increased in membership and cars. A few years ago our Club joined the Worldwide Parent Group - "Early Ford V8 Club of America". Our Regional Group No. is #43 and the parent club now has around 10,000 members worldwide. This club was formed in 1963 and incorporated in March 1966 in San Leindro - California.
This year - 2007 - is the N.S.W. Club's 30th Anniversary Year.
The restoration of Early Fords in Australia is of world class and the Club has won numerous Trophies at many Ford and Combined Car Club events.
The Club has hosted 3 Early Ford V8 National Rallies, the first at Windsor, the second at Penrith and just last year at Mt Panorama Bathurst N.S.W., with many country, interstate and international visitors attending.
The Rallies have been a great success and have promoted the Early Ford V8 involvement in Australia.
